I remember seeing Emma Roberts in the movie Aquamarine (2006) wearing skinny jeans and I immediately fell in love.
The early 2000s was a beautiful era for fashion, full of clunky shoes and necklaces, sunglasses the size of the moon, and the elite combo of high heels and skinny jeans.
Then a few decades later jeans start becoming looser and looser. Until we get “the boyfriend jeans” and now, “the mom jeans.”
Mom jeans are characterized by their high waist and loose fit around the legs.
Mom jeans plus a baby on the hip make for an even better combination than high heels and skinny jeans.
When I say “finally embracing” what I truly mean is that I am finally embracing motherhood after three years of being a mother.
When you become a mom, you have to learn how to shed your old self and realize she’s never coming back again.
This process can take some women years, while others understand the assignment much sooner.
I no longer cringe at the title of “mom” (but please don’t call me mam).
When you become a mom, you have to realize that your days are no longer yours, they’re your children’s. This can be upsetting at first, but then you realize something wonderful.
Watching my son experience the magic of childhood is even greater than my own experience of childhood.
My son is now three years old and I find spending time with him delightful (save tantrums). He’s funny, smart, talkative, silly, and wants to help all the time.
My body acceptance is lagging behind my overall parenting acceptance.
I have scars and stretch marks, and I’m about 15 pounds heavier than I’d like to be.
The denim jeans in my closet feel like ghosts of my skinny past, haunting me with their presence and tiny waistlines.
I have to embrace my new body and find clothes that flatter my figure. Enter: mom jeans.
Postpartum is such an odd time because you will likely lose the weight eventually, but you're in this weird purgatory of a shape.
I’ve opted to buy jeans that fit me now, rather than later. And I hope you do too.
So these are my mom jeans, I’d highly recommend a baby on the hip for a cool accessory.

I would love to know where you got your jeans & any brands you recommend??
